About This Department

Obstetric & Gynecology Services

Over the years maternal and child health have experienced less than satisfactory outcomes mainly due to perennial blood shortages in the County and country. Lack of blood has seen maternal mortality move from 470 per every 100,000 live births in 2018 to a high of 630 per every 100,000 live births in 2019.

This is set to be reversed with the acquisition of complementary lab equipment that will be doing screening for JOOTRH. In addition, deliberate periodic blood donation drives will be conducted to mobilize and replenish the stocks in the blood bank. This will lead to mitigating the risks associated with maternal and perinatal mortalities.  JOOTRH intends to reduce maternal mortality by 50%.

The key objective of this department is to provide good services for clients by reducing turnover time and providing the best quality services to patients.

The department admits cases below 28 weeks for pregnancy and any other conditions e.g. malaria, pneumonia, e.t.c.
