About This Department
Oncology Department
The current services available for oncology include screening and prevention, chemotherapy treatment, surgery, and palliative care. Further divisions of the department include Gynae-Oncology, Haemato-Oncology, and Medical surgery Oncology. Approximately 2500 patients who require radiotherapy have to either go to Kenyatta National Hospital or private hospitals in Nairobi.
This is the main reason why a radiotherapy center is being established in JOOTRH to increase access to services in the region and decrease associated costs in traveling and accommodation to other regions for the same service.
